New York City Celebrates the Radio City Rockettes' 100th Anniversary (2025)

Can you imagine New York City without the Radio City Rockettes? For a century, they've been a dazzling symbol of the holidays, and this year, the Big Apple is pulling out all the stops to celebrate the Rockettes' 100th anniversary! Get ready for a city-wide party you won't want to miss.

Madison Square Garden Entertainment Corp. (MSG Entertainment), the driving force behind the Rockettes, has unveiled a spectacular range of events and collaborations happening throughout New York City and inside the iconic Radio City Music Hall. This isn't just a celebration; it's a full-blown love letter to these legendary dancers.

"Rockettes Way" Unveiled: A Street Renamed in Their Honor

In a truly special moment, the New York City Department of Transportation has temporarily renamed Sixth Avenue, right outside Radio City Music Hall, as "Rockettes Way." From now until November 21st, the stretch between 50th and 51st streets will bear this honorary name. Can you picture walking down "Rockettes Way"? It's a testament to their enduring impact on the city.

To mark this occasion, current and former Rockettes, spanning generations, gathered for a memorable kickline performance right there on "Rockettes Way," set to the tune of "New York, New York." It was a powerful symbol of their legacy and a truly unforgettable New York moment.

"The Rockettes have contributed to our city’s allure and served as a true New York City institution, bringing together generations of people each holiday season for the past 100 years," said New York City Mayor Eric Adams. "Today, we are proud to honor their centennial anniversary by temporarily renaming the street in front of Radio City Music Hall as ‘Rockettes Way.' Congratulations to the Rockettes on 100 years of high kicks, sold-out shows, and making New York City shine a little brighter every holiday season."

A City-Wide Celebration: Exhibits, Treats, and Merchandise Galore!

But the "Rockettes Way" renaming is just the beginning. Inside Radio City Music Hall, audiences attending the 2025 Christmas Spectacular will be treated to exclusive costume exhibits, immersive activations, and special food and beverage offerings—all designed to celebrate the Rockettes' rich history.

And the celebration extends far beyond the Music Hall's walls. The Rockettes have teamed up with some of New York City's most iconic institutions and brands to create a truly immersive experience. Prepare to see Rockettes-themed displays and merchandise at:

  • The Empire State Building: The Rockettes kicked off the Christmas Spectacular season by lighting up the Empire State Building in festive holiday colors. But that's not all! You can also find curated displays celebrating the Rockettes' history throughout the building, featuring costumes from past Christmas Spectaculars.
  • The Museum of Broadway: Opening November 13th and running through January 5, 2026, The Museum of Broadway will host a special exhibit titled "The Rockettes 100th Anniversary: A Century of Sisterhood." Inside Radio City: A Centennial Celebration

Those attending the Christmas Spectacular will be treated to even more Rockettes magic. In addition to the costume exhibits, a pre-show video will highlight the Rockettes' 100-year journey.

But here's where it gets interesting... LEGOLAND® New York Resort contributed two life-size Wooden Soldier figures made entirely of LEGO® bricks to Radio City Music Hall this holiday season. The figures will be on view at on the 2nd Mezzanine beginning November 14th through the run of the show.

Don't forget to check out the custom food and beverage options, including the "Rockettini" served in a commemorative martini glass and a new Wooden Soldiers popcorn bucket and cake pop. And of course, there's a wide range of 100th-anniversary merchandise available, from ornaments to snow globes to a commemorative program.

A Legacy of Precision and Sisterhood

Founded in 1925, the Rockettes have become synonymous with precision dance and holiday cheer. Originally known as the "Missouri Rockets," they found their permanent home at Radio City Music Hall in 1932, and the annual Christmas Spectacular debuted in 1933.

And this is the part most people miss... the Rockettes are actively working to ensure inclusivity and representation within their ranks. Through programs like Rockettes Preparatory and Rockettes Conservatory®, they're opening doors for dancers from all backgrounds. Over the past five years, these programs have helped nearly 60 dancers become Rockettes, joining a sisterhood that spans generations.

To honor the thousands of women who have graced the Rockettes line, the organization launched Rockettes Legacy™, fostering lifelong connections and preserving their extraordinary history. Former Rockettes are encouraged to join and share their stories.

The 2025 Christmas Spectacular: A Must-See Holiday Tradition

The 2025 Christmas Spectacular is running now through January 5, 2026, at Radio City Music Hall. Tickets are available at the Ticketmaster Box Office and online.
