Kory Mincy Achieves Second A-10 Player of the Week Award

FAIRFAX, Va. - In an exciting announcement from the Atlantic 10 Conference office this Monday morning, Kory Mincy, a junior on the George Mason University men's basketball team, has received his second Player of the Week honor for the season. This recognition marks the second time in just four weeks that Mincy has been acknowledged with this prestigious award.

In George Mason's recent victory over Loyola (Md.) on Sunday, Mincy showcased an outstanding performance, scoring a game-high total of 26 points. Additionally, he contributed four assists and secured two steals, demonstrating his all-around skills on the court. The East Point, Georgia native also excelled from beyond the arc, hitting 2 of 4 three-point attempts, and impressively converted 10 out of 11 free throw attempts during the game.

Mincy's remarkable start to his debut season as a Patriot has not gone unnoticed. He currently leads the A-10 conference in both scoring, averaging 18.1 points per game, and minutes played, with an impressive 35:08 per game. Furthermore, he ranks third in the league for three-pointers made per game, averaging 2.67. His performance is further highlighted by his strong assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.24, placing him third in the conference, and his average of 3.9 assists per game, which ranks fifth.

On a national scale, Mincy stands out as well, boasting a remarkable free throw percentage of .962, ranking him third in the country, and he’s also 18th in terms of three-point shooting percentage at .485.

Earlier in the season, Mincy set a new school record by successfully making 48 consecutive free throws without missing, a feat that underscores his shooting prowess.

Looking ahead, Mincy and the Patriots will conclude their non-conference schedule on Sunday, December 28, with a home game against Penn, scheduled to tip-off at 5 p.m.
