A desperate plea for Gaza's children: Can we save them from the aftermath of war?
In a region ravaged by conflict, a glimmer of hope emerges with a critical immunization campaign. This week, a collaborative effort by UNICEF, UNRWA, WHO, and partners, in conjunction with the Gaza Ministry of Health, aims to reach 44,000 children who have been deprived of essential healthcare services.
The statistics are alarming: one in five children under three have either received no vaccinations or missed critical doses due to the war, leaving them vulnerable to deadly diseases. This catch-up campaign is a race against time to inoculate these children against a range of preventable illnesses, including measles, mumps, rubella, diphtheria, and more.

The campaign will be implemented in three rounds, with over 450 health workers and support staff trained to ensure its success. Additionally, 149 medical doctors will be on the lookout for any post-immunization health concerns, though such cases are rare.
