Ready to transform your New Year’s resolutions into reality? 2026 is your year to unlock creativity and connect with like-minded individuals at Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum. Whether you’re looking to nurture a new skill or find a welcoming creative space, their lineup of workshops starting January 2026 has something for everyone. But here’s where it gets exciting—these aren’t your average classes. Let’s dive in!
Mindful Mondays: Creative Self-Care for the Soul
Feeling overwhelmed by the daily grind? Mindful Mondays is a six-week program designed to recharge your mind, body, and spirit through art. Led by artist Catherine Woods, this course blends creative activities like collage, painting, journaling, doodling, and book art with reflective practices to boost your mental wellbeing. And this is the part most people miss—it’s completely free, thanks to funding from the Liverpool Community Impact Fund via the ‘Friends of Kirkby Gallery & Prescot Museum’ community group. But don’t wait—spaces are limited, and booking is essential.
Dates & Times:
- Course 1: Mondays, 1–3pm, 19 January – 23 February 2026
- Course 2: Mondays, 1–3pm, 2 March – 6 April 2026
Tuesday SEWcial: Stitch, Chat, and Connect
Ever wished you could be more “sewciable”? Tuesday SEWcial is your answer. This weekly sewing group is perfect for beginners and seasoned stitchers alike. Guided by a textile professional, you’ll work on a group project while sharing tips, tricks, and stories. It’s a relaxed, informal space to develop your skills and make new friends. Here’s the catch—while the course is free, you’ll need to join the Friends of Kirkby Gallery and Prescot Museum (FOKGPM) annual membership scheme, which funds this initiative. Basic materials are provided, but feel free to bring your own fabric scraps for a personal touch.
Dates & Times: Tuesdays, 10:30am–12:30pm, 20 January – 24 March 2026
An Introduction to Digital Photography: Capture the World Like a Pro
Dreaming of taking stunning photos? An Introduction to Digital Photography at Prescot Museum is your gateway. Led by professional photographer Steve Samosa, this eight-week course covers everything from camera settings and composition to post-production and indoor/outdoor photography. Whether you’re using a DSLR or a smartphone, you’ll learn to master your equipment and unleash your creativity. Controversial opinion alert: Is photography truly an art, or just a technical skill? We’ll let you decide—but first, you’ll need to book your spot and join the FOKGPM membership scheme.
Dates & Times: Thursdays, 1–3pm, 22 January – 12 March 2026
