Martin Murphy's passing marks the end of a life lived with grace and devotion, leaving behind a legacy of love and family. His departure, peaceful and surrounded by those closest to him, reminds us of the profound importance of cherishing moments with loved ones. But here’s where it gets emotional—his family’s stories and memories will keep his spirit alive in their hearts forever.
Martin was predeceased by his beloved wife Alice, their infant son Gerard, and his brother Fr Vincent. He is survived by his children: Vincent (married to Mary from New York), Francis (with Gaye from Kilmactigue), Mary Reynolds (alongside Gerry from Lucan), Liam (with Kate from Tullamoy), Anna Maria O’Hara (with Brendan from New York), Martina McLoughlin (with P.J. from Kilkelly), Fr Gabriel (serving in Keash Parish), Patrick of Stonepark, and Noreen McLoughlin (with Brendan from Charlestown). His grandchildren—Ciarán, Cathal, Aoife, Diarmuid, Eoghain, Ciara, Aishling, Roisín, Micheal, Brendan, Brian, Anna, Teresa, Martina, Kyle, Nicole, and Mikayla—held a special place in his heart.
He also leaves behind his sister Elizabeth Noonan from New York, brother-in-law Michael Sheridan (Noreen) from Newport, sister-in-law Nora Moran from Chicago, along with a wide circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends, and neighbors who shared in his life.
Martin’s peaceful soul will be dearly missed, and his memory will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Funeral arrangements will see Martin resting at his home (F91 CY60) on Monday, the 15th, from noon until 8 pm, and again on Tuesday from noon until 5 pm. The house will be private after 5 pm on Tuesday. His funeral mass will be held at The Church of The Holy Rosary in Kilmactigue at 8 pm on Tuesday, with the Requiem Mass taking place on Wednesday, the 17th, at 12 noon. Following the service, his remains will be laid to rest in Kilmactigue Cemetery.
To honor his memory, the mass will be livestreamed at https://mcn.live/camera/the-church-of-the-most-holy-rosary, allowing friends and family worldwide to participate.
In respect for his wishes, no flowers are requested. Please note that a one-way traffic system will be in operation, with access to Stonepark via The Middle Claddagh Road. May Martin rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find comfort in their memories.
